We regret to inform you of the death of a gentleman from the nation of India who was the second Lake Allatoona drowning victim in two weeks.

According to Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Law Enforcement Division Public Affairs Officer Mark McKinnon, mister Varun Krishnamurthy, who turned 27-years-old on May 11th, was swimming with friends near the Tanyard boat ramp when he jumped off a tube and did not resurface.

DNR officials were notified of the incident about 8:30 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2014.

DNR Rangers, Bartow Fire & Rescue and Bartow Sheriff’s Office personnel responded.  Bartow Fire & Rescue recovered the body about 8:55.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Varun Krishnamurthy.
