3 Good Reasons Why Daylight Saving Time Ends Sunday 11-2-14

clock with no handsHere we go again.  Daylight Saving Time (DST) ends at 2 AM on Sunday, November 2, 2014.  At that time we “fall back” and the time reverts to Standard Time.  We will, of course, either lose an hour of sleep or gain an hour of sleep.

Please Note:  Discuss among yourselves whether or not you lose an hour of sleep, and why.  Thank you.

According to the Internet — which cannot lie — Daylight Saving Time (DST) is a way of making better use of the natural daylight by setting your clock forward one hour during the summer months, and back again in the fall.

Unless you are in Hawaii — a magnificent state where it is always sunny and, therefore, profoundly stupid to screw up everyone’s internal clocks twice a year to pretend that the days are longer and sunnier.

Sections of Indiana used to muck things up by not switching back and forth for DST.  Now they’ve either come to their senses or lost whatever sense they once had and they don’t do that anymore.  Don’t ask me.

A few cities that border other cities in different time zones aren’t in the same time zone as the rest of their states.  Oddly, that makes sense to me.

All I know is we’re falling back to Daylight Saving Time on Sunday.

Unless you live in Arizona — another sunny state — where they don’t fiddle with their clocks twice a year.  Unless you live in Arizona in the Navajo Nation, which does observe Daylight Saving Time.

Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands?  Nope.  They don’t fool around with their clocks either.  Yup, sunny there too.

Abraham Lincoln used to say, “If you call a dog’s tail a leg, how many legs does a dog have?”

Oh.  Sorry, I couldn’t think of any good reasons why DST ends on Sunday.  I really did try.  Honest.

And … you can call a dog’s tail anything you’d like, but a dog only has four legs.

And a day only has 24 hours.
