Two Boats Burnt on the Lake

No injuries were reported in a Monday night fire that destroyed two boats docked at a Lake Allatoona marina.

Cherokee County fire spokesman Tim Cavender said the blaze at the Victoria Marina was reported shortly before 11 p.m.

A fisherman participating in a fishing tournament on the lake "noticed an orange glow coming from one of the boats" and called 911, Cavender said. When firefighters arrived, they found two boats fully engulfed in flames at the end of a dock.

Firefighters used water and foam to keep the fire from spreading to other boats docked nearby, Cavender said.

The cause of the fire had not been determined late Tuesday morning.
