Great Lake Allatoona Cleanup This Saturday



If you would like to participate in the Great Lake Allatoona Cleanup this Saturday please contact Erin ChavdaDSC00663 (see contact information below).

Your assigned area for cleanup will be Harbor Town Marina.  Check in will begin at 9am and the cleanup will last until 12 noon. After the clean up there will be a picnic at Riverside Day use area.  There will be free food, prizes, and fun.  Please join us to celebrate a wonderful job you’ve done to preserve our greatest natural resource.

Remember to avoid areas of shoreline that are too steep for safe walking; avoid large objects that are too heavy to lift, drag, or roll; double bag heavy trash and/or glass; stay together as a group or utilize the buddy system; small children & non-swimmers should wear a personal flotation device; all persons riding on boats should wear a personal flotation device and are required by law, if under the age of 10; use caution when picking up glass-try raking it using a stick onto something to place in the garbage bag; avoid encounters with snakes and other animals; should you come across the following items: please note the location so that these items can be collected at a later date-do not attempt to collect these items: potentially toxic chemicals (i.e. batteries), organic debris (i.e. animal carcasses), drug paraphernalia or other “bad” items (i.e. condoms).

Time: 9:00am to 12:00pm (there will also be a picnic held at the Riverside Day Use Area from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. if you care to stay)

Directions to Harbor Town Marina (in Acworth):
From I-75 NORTHBOUND
Take Exit 277.  Turn RIGHT onto HWY 92 and travel 1.1 miles.  Turn LEFT onto Kellogg Creek Road and travel 2 miles.  Turn LEFT onto Galt’s Ferry Road and travel 1.1 miles until you reach the Marina
From I-75 SOUTHBOUND
Take Exit 277.  Turn LEFT onto HWY 92 and travel 1.2 miles.  Turn LEFT onto Kellogg Creek Road and travel 2 miles.  Turn LEFT onto Galt’s Ferry Road and travel 1.1 miles until you reach the Marina.

Directions to Riverside Day Use Area (located on Allatoona Dam Road):
Take I-75 to Exit 285 (Red Top Mountain Rd); If you are heading Northbound, turn LEFT onto Red Top Mountain Road-If you are heading Southbound, turn RIGHT onto Red Top Mountain Road.  Continue approximately 1 mile to US 41/JFH Parkway; Turn RIGHT on US 41/JFH Parkway and travel approximately 1 mile until you reach Allatoona Dam Road.  Take a RIGHT onto Allatoona Dam Road and continue on for 1.5 miles at which point the road will dead end into Riverside Park.
