Come Out and Love Acworth and Lake Allatoona!
The city of Acworth and the Acworth Business Association are planning the 2009 Love the Lake festival at Cauble Park on Lake Acworth. It will be conducted Sept. 5 and 6, over Labor Day weekend.
The annual “goodbye to summer” event will feature festivities in downtown Acworth, concerts at Cauble Park and more than 100 arts and crafts vendors, said Brandon Douglas, assistant city manager and economic development director for the city of Acworth.
“Anytime the city can partner with a business association like ABA to provide our citizens something unique to the area, it’s a pleasure,” Douglas said. The LAPA members would be at the event to help showcase Lake Allatoona.
Douglas said the festival typically draws 10,000 to 12,000 people for the two-day event. More information on the Love the Lake festival, including times, is available at www.acworthbusiness.org.
The LAPA also made plans for the 24th annual Great Lake Allatoona Cleanup on Sept. 12. Volunteers are assigned certain areas of the lake’s shoreline to pick up trash. 270 miles of shoreline will be covered during the cleanup.
Lake Allatoona is about two feet below summer level of 840 feet, which is normal for this time of year. There is a possibility of tropical activity that will help to raise it. Water quality is very good.
Enjoy the remaining weeks of summer and be sure to participate in the festivites over Labor Day Weekend. Most importantly, do your part to keep Lake Allatoona clean and beautiful so we can enjoy it next year and for many years to come!
