Stripers: Poor , The shad kill is in full swing and there are dead shad and gulls everywhere. There are even died shad on the banks inside the marina’s right now. The lake is stain from one end to the other and the water temp is in the high 30Th’s to low 40Th’s. This is with out question the biggest shad kill we have had in years. This has and will make fishing tough for a few weeks but in the long run it will be a big benefit to all anglers this coming spring.

If you just got to get out and try you luck be sure to take some small shiners and jigging spoons. Also try a medium-sized shiner fished under a cork, like you’re crappie fishing. Watch your fish-finder for big schools of bait that are near the top of the water column, 10 to 12 feet deep. You’ll see some shad on top that are dying,” . and fish the edge of the dying bait. Look for these fish to be 2/3 of the way in back of the creeks.

Until the fishing picks back up on Lake Allatoona. I will be moving all of my trips to Lanier and Carters Lakes.
