Line-side fishing is Good.

The bite has slowed down a little compared to last week’s, but overall it’s still pretty good.  The best bite right now is within eyesight of the dam.  Most anglers are putting in at Red Top and not even starting their big motor.

The topwater bite is probably the most popular bite right now.  Popping corks are working best.  The fish are busting most mornings from the bridge at Red Top to the dam.  And there has also been some topwater action in the Allatoona Creek Arm near Harbor Town.

The down-line bite remains strong, but it is dying quickly.  You need to carry plenty of bait with you and change them out every five minutes.  Thread fin shad are working best on my boats when fished 2-30 feet deep out over the river channel and the mouths of creeks.

There are a lot people doing really well with shiners right now.  Shiners will live longer on a hook than a shad from now until the end of September, but shad are still king when it comes to live-bait fishing.

Not really much to report from the north end of the lake.  All of my boats are fishing south and probably will be for the next four weeks.
