Drowning Death at Lake Allatoona

We regret to inform you of the death of Debra Elaine Hansard, age 56, of Acworth, Georgia. She passed away on Wednesday at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.
Ms. Hansard was swimming at Lake Allatoona with her family on Tuesday afternoon, June 4, 2013, off Kellogg Creek Road at the end of McCurley Road, in an area not designated for public swimming.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s office and rescue personnel responded after being notified of a body floating face-down in the water. One deputy performed CPR on Ms. Hansard and an ambulance took her to the hospital. Unfortunately, their stalwart efforts did not save her.
A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday, June 8th, at 2 PM at the South Canton Funeral Home in Canton.
