Senate Bill 136 goes into effect in Georgia on May 15, 2013.

Several state officials from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Department of Public Safety and the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety will attend informational sessions around the state at local marinas on Tuesday, May 14th and Wednesday the 15th.

The message will be simple.  If you drink, don’t drive or hunt.  On land or waterways.

The visits will culminate at 2 PM at Lake Lanier’s Laurel Park in North Hall County, where Governor Nathan Deal will give a brief address.

Senate Bill 136 lowered the Boating Under the Influence limit to a .08 blood-alcohol level for boat operators and hunters, among others.

Officials are slated to speak May 14th in Columbus, Fort Gaines, Cordele and Milledgeville; and in Savannah and Augusta on May 15th.

We believe this legislation will keep Lake Allatoona, Lake Acworth and other waterways in our area safer.
