Weather & Closings for Acworth (Noon 2-11-14)
At this time City Roads and County Roads are in good condition.
Motorist are urged to monitor weather information closely as temperatures just north of Cobb County have dropped below freezing and some roadway icing has been reported.
The city has materials to treat the city’s main roadways and employees are working around the clock monitoring the weather and road conditions. In addition Acworth Power Employees are ready in case there are any power issues due to icing.
City Offices are open today. Sanitation Service for Wednesday and Thursday has been delayed until Friday and Saturday (weather permitting.) In addition, the Acworth Municipal Court has canceled the court session scheduled for Thursday.

ACCUMULATIONS…UP TO TWO INCH AVERAGE SNOW TOTALS WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON THEN AN ADDITIONAL 5 TO 7 INCHES TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS UP TO 9 INCHES.

TIMING…SNOW AND SLEET IS ALREADY OCCURRING ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA. THIS TREND WILL CONTINUE INTO THE MORNING AND A TRANSITION TO RAIN IS POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME. THIS WILL TRANSITION BACK TO SNOW AND SLEET TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY AND THEN PRIMARILY ALL SNOW WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
