Acworth, Georgia

On Thursday, February 6, 2014, the Acworth Business Association sponsored a meeting attended by more than 200 local residents — including Cobb Transportation Director Faye DiMassimo, State Representative Ed Setzler and many local dignitaries — where Acworth Mayor Tommy Allegood presented his State of the City message.

One important portion of the mayor’s speech was information about construction that  could begin on an expansion of Highway 92 into four lanes from Cherokee Street to Highway 41.

Survey work on the $32 million project has been done by the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Should sufficient funds be available for the construction from state and federal coffers, rights of way will be purchased for the proposed widening of the three-mile corridor of SR 92 and a new bridge between Lake Allatoona and Lake Acworth.

Work will not begin until 2018 and should be completed by 2020.
