Cars Abandoned on Interstates To Be Towed
The Georgia State Patrol says the towing of vehicles abandoned on state highways due to the recent ice storm will begin at 9 PM on Thursday, January 30, 2014.
The Westlake and Mt. Paran Road locations for motorists to be taken to their vehicles closed at 5 p.m.
Vehicles that remain on the interstate (emergency lanes, gores, and ramps – any portion of the interstate that is paved) will be towed beginning at 9 p.m. tonight.
- I-285 (All)
- All interstates inside I-285
- Langford Parkway (GA 166) from I-75 – I-285
- GA 400 from I-85 to the Forsyth County line
- I-20 to Six Flags hill
- I-75 to I-575
Anyone going to retrieve a vehicle this evening should exercise extreme caution and motorists in the area should be alert for pedestrians along the shoulder.
Beginning at 9 p.m., vehicles that remain will be impounded and drivers should be prepared for emergency vehicles along the interstates.
Drivers are reminded of Georgia’s Move Over Law that requires drivers to move over one lane when approaching an emergency vehicle with its emergency lights activated, or slow down well below the posted speed limit.
