March Events at Red Top



It’s time to get out and enjoy Friday nights at Red Top Mountain State Park. Red Top Mountain State park has 2 great Friday events lined up this March.

On March 24th and March 31st, you can enjoy the outside at Red Top with a campfire talk about the American Chestnut Tree.  Stay for star gazing and hot chocolate afterwards.

Better yet, arrive early and enjoy a hike on the 12 miles of hiking trails that wind through the park.  Then, you won’t feel so guilty indulging on a s’more (bring your own ingredients) at the campfire.

1)  Chestnuts on an Open Fire

Date:   Friday, March 24th & Friday, March 31st

Time:  7:30pm – 8:15pm

Enjoy a campfire talk about the American Chestnut Tree, its decline and the new efforts to restore it.  Bring your own marshamallows and s’mores ingredients.  Meet at the Visitors Center.  Parking is $5.  Phone 770-975-0055 for more information.

2)  Stars of Red Top (Star Gazing) & Hot Chocolate

Date:   Friday, March 24th & Friday, March 31st

Time:  8:30pm – 10:00pm

Learn about the constellations and celestial events.  Bring your own equipment or share the telescope and gazing binoculars that will be there.  Meet at the Visitors Center by 8:15pm and carpool over to the gazing spot.  This event is weather permitting.  Parking is $5.  Phone 770-975-0055 for more information.
