Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville is promoted as the second largest museum in Georgia.
Booth houses the largest permanent exhibition space for Western art in America. Galleries feature contemporary Western American art, historic Western art, Civil War art, Presidential portraits and letters, Western movie posters and Western illustrations.
When you visit, take the daily Highlights Tour at 1:30 pm, or give yourself one of their unique, self-guided family tours.
Families may check out saddlebags filled with activities from the front desk, all designed to help parents and children get the most out of their Museum visit while having fun.

Booth Western Art Museum hosted an astounding exhibition of Ansel Adams’ photography.
Ansel Adams: The Masterworks, an exhibition showcasing 30 photographs from an edition known as The Museum Set – images hand selected, printed, and signed by Adams himself. Exhibited together for the first time ever, these images are loaned from the personal collection of Virginia Adams Mayhew, Ansel’s granddaughter.
Although those particular treasures will only be on display until November 5, 2017, other fascinating items are featured continually. The multimedia theatre, with seating for 60, shows the award winning orientation film The American West every 20 minutes. The Museum’s Special and Temporary Exhibit Galleries hosts six to ten temporary exhibits per year.
Thousands of visitors since its opening in 2003 have come away wondering why they had never heard of Booth Western Art Museum. Now, they tell their friends to also enjoy a visit.
Bring the kids! Those who are 12 and under are admitted for free, with a paying adult. Sagebrush Ranch — an interactive gallery where children of all ages can learn about art and Western America — will keep your little cowhands happily engaged.
