Corps Accepting Advance Reservations for Lake Allatoona Campsites

Our friends with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) have begun accepting advance reservations for all its campsites for the 2018 camping season at Lake Allatoona.

This wise move should take much of the anxiety out of driving to a park hoping to find space to camp, and not finding a suitable spot.

Only about 10% of the project’s campsites were previously available on an in-person, first-come, first-serve basis.

McKinney Campground, which is open year-round, has begun accepting reservations for all of its campsites.

Reservations for the remaining campsites at Allatoona can be made up to six months in advance at each campground.

Project officials hope that by taking reservations in advance for all campsites, it will provide the public with more predictability.

Reservations can be made by visiting Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.

Patrons will still have the option to reserve a campsite on a same day, walk-in basis, pending availability.  It’s nice to know we can reserve campsites side-by-side for family gatherings or to hang out with old friends.

We commend the USACE for this helpful change in policy.
