Corps Campsites at Lake Allatoona Filled for July 4th

Lake Allatoona has the world’s friendliest fireflies!

You snooze … you lose.

Sorry, but our friends at the Army Corps of Engineers based at what they call Allatoona Lake — what we call Lake Allatoona — have bad news for those of us who didn’t plan far enough ahead.

As of Friday afternoon, June 21st, all the campsites for *all* Lake Allatoona Corps-managed campgrounds have been reserved for the July 4th holiday weekend — with one exception!

As of 8:54 PM, Friday, June 21st, there were eight tent sites available at Sweetwater Campground.

They might be gone by the time you read this, but if you’re still interested, click here to see if any tent sites are still available.

If that link has expired, go to www.Recreation.gov and answer the questions on the left-hand side of the page.  After a few tries you should end up viewing all the campsites at Lake Allatoona.

Could there be a cancellation?  Sure.

But if you cannot get a campsite at the lake, pitch a tent in your backyard and pretend you’re deep in the woods.  At least you’ll be near your own shower.
