Vineyard Mountain Eagle Scout Trails are accessible from either the Riverside Day Use Park or by Red Top Mountain Road at the Bethany Bridge pull-off.

There are three trails:

•  Blue trail — Length: 1/4 mile.   Difficulty:  Intermediate

•  Red trail  —  Length: 3/4 mile.  Difficulty:  Advanced

•  Yellow  —     Length: 2.8 miles.  Difficulty:  Intermediate

According to the Army Corps of Engineers, the Vineyard Mountain Eagle Scout Trails go through forests on Vineyard Mountain.  Hikers have vantage points where they can pause and take in the gorgeous views of the Etowah River Valley, Allatoona Dam, Cooper’s Furnace area and Lake Allatoona.

During springtime, blooming dogwood, native azalea, mountain laurel, and redbud beautify your path.  The best time to hike?  When autumn’s palate of vibrant leaves burst forth before winter’s winds blow them away.

Keep an eye out for deer, turkey, fox, bobcat, squirrel and rabbits.  You’re sure to see hawks, songbirds and a woodpecker or two.  If you’re fortunate, you could see a bald eagle.

We are thankful for our friends in Cartersville for their care for this path, which began as a service project for Eagle Scouts.  This is another example of the fine community service from these groups.
