The Homestead Trail — named for the many homesteads that once existed on the loop — is a 5-1/2 mile Moderate hike that begins from the porch of the Red Top Mountain State Park Visitor Center.
The path goes northward for one mile, crosses Lodge Road, and then makes a 3-1/2 mile loop through the beautiful park. If you’re not used to hiking, be sure to carry extra water and stop to rest when you need a break.
A portion of the hike follows the lovely shores of Lake Allatoona.
After completing the loop, hikers rejoin the one-mile path to return to the porch. Unless they just keep going round and round until someone stops them. Kindly keep an eye out for “loopers.”
Thank you.
