Lakeside Trail

Lakeside Trail is an Easy 3/4-mile hike that begins at the parking area of the former lodge at Red Top Mountain State Park.  It loops behind the lodge along the shores of Lake Allatoona.

Lakeside Trail is ADA-accessible for its entire length, an enormous benefit to those unable to take more strenuous trails.

Lakeside Trail’s primary attraction is the historic 1869 Vaughn Cabin that is right on the trail.  There are special programs held at the cabin occasionally.

Numerous benches line the trail and shoreline for folks to stop and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.  The benches are perfect for resting as long as you would like.  However, those who remain seated for more than a day or two are more likely to attract lions and tigers and bears.  Oh, my!
