Whitetail Trail is a one-mile Moderate hike that begins at the parking lot of the former lodge at Red Top Mountain State Park.

It shares a trailhead with the Sweetgum Trail loop.

Whitetail Trail turns away from Sweetgum Trail and heads northward along the edge of Lake Allatoona to a gorgeous scenic overlook.  The view makes the walk in the woods even more perfect.

Pack light, but be sure to carry enough water for yourself and your companions.  It never hurts to keep a whistle and a flashlight in your pack too.  Being prepared isn’t just for Boy Scouts.
