Line-side fishing is Dead!!

Due to this week’s weather, I wasn’t able to get out on the pond.  But I really couldn’t imagine anything changing for the better.

The shad kill is in full swing on Lake Allatoona right now.  There is dead & dying bait everywhere.  This is the biggest shad kill we have seen on Lake Allatoona in many years.  This will make fishing Awful for a while.  But there is a bright side to this kill.  Our spring bite should be off the charts this year.  I look for the bite to return by the first or second week of March.  And expect it to be off the charts by the first of April.

If you just have to get out of the house and wet a line, your best bet maybe big Shad or Trout fished behind planer boards and on free lines.  You won’t wear them out, but there is the possibility of catching a monster right now.

The bite has been so slow on #lakeallatoona, that I will be moving all of my Lake Allatoona trips to Carters Lake until Lake Allatoona starts showing some signs of life.
