Marietta’s 38th Annual Harvest Square Arts & Crafts Festival
Marietta’s 38th Annual Harvest Square Arts and Crafts Festival will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014, from 9 AM until 5 PM. There’s something in store for everyone. Truly.
The Harvest Square Festival is for normal folks. Or at least it’s for folks who enjoy meandering around Marietta’s spectacular square examining paintings, pottery, woodworking, jewelry and all sorts of interesting crafts. Admission is free, and there will be games and activities for the entire family.
This annual festival also includes Halloween Happenings from 1 – 5 PM. This fun event for kids 12 and younger includes carnival games and kid-friendly activities. At 2 PM, there’s a costume contest for pets and children 12 and under.
For those who prefer heirloom tomatoes to Big Macs, the Festival includes the Marietta Square Farmers’ Market from 9 until noon. On a typical weekend, 65 vendors bring their fancy fruits and the kinds of vegetables you won’t find at Walmart.
Don’t eat food that ever had eyeballs? Cool. The Farmers’ Market is just what you’re looking for with potatoes, onions, tomatoes, squash, beans, pattypan squash, heirloom salad mix, amazing cut flower arrangements, local honey, herbal soaps, whole grain breads, fudge pies, jelly, jam and preserves. Organic vendors are here too. Customers can also take home many live garden, yard and culinary herb plants, not to mention killer fresh squeezed lemonade.
Speaking of killer, after the vendors have closed for the evening it’s going to get weird. The 4th Annual Marietta Zombie Walk (benefiting MUST Ministries) struts its bloody stuff until 10 PM, or until the last brain has been eaten.
