Unknown Soldier at Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Identified

A volunteer (but not in the Tennessee sense) has uncovered the identity of the soldier buried near the Illinois Monument.

The grave belongs to Mark Carr, a U.S. Army private, killed while charging an enemy position at Cheatham Hill and buried where he lay.

He will not be re-interred at the Marietta National Cemetery but a marker will be posted nearby detailing the search for his identity
