Relax.

Twilight Hikes at Red Top Mountain State Park on Lake Allatoona have nothing to do with all those vampires and spooky creatures our kids know more about than American History, English, Sociology and Algebra — combined.

These particular Twilight Hikes are guided tours at our favorite state park.

Note to Parents:  You should allow your kids to go with their friends.  This is not like “submarine races,” if you catch my drift.

Join Ranger Marcus on a Twilight Hike as the day ends and night begins.   MMmmmmuuuuwahahahaha!

This totally unromantic, awful-date-idea walk in the dark begins in the Discovery Room at the Park Office, where you will meet a resident snake (no, not your blind date) before heading out into the wilderness to face lions, tigers and bears.

This one-mile hike is rated Moderately Difficult — which means you probably won’t keel over and croak, but somebody as old and fat as “you know who” might.

Twilight Hike Dates

  • Friday, September 13, 2013;  (As in “Friday the 13th.”)  8 PM until 9:30 PM, unless rescue crews are needed.
  • Friday, September 20, 2013;  8 PM until 9:30 PM, unless folks hide in the bushes.
  • Friday, September 27th; 8 PM until 9:30 PM, or until the last frisky couple is dragged out of the woods.

Wait!  There’s More!

You get to pay for the Twilight Hike!

  • $3 per person
  • $15 for groups of 5 or more
  • $5  parking.

Warning!

We did our best to scare off folks who would freak out on the Twilight Hike.  You will not encounter any lions, tigers or bears.  (Probably.)  Now that we’ve screened out any potential whiners, please do not blame us if you love this unusual stroll in the woods so much that you try to stay overnight.  The Rangers will find you and make you go home.  But, they’ll probably allow you to come back another day.
