Line-side fishing is Great.

The fish are in their summer pattern.  The bite that was so strong mid-lake is starting to slow down compared to last week.

The fish are starting to move off the flats and humps and are starting to school out over the river and creek channels.

This week we have caught fish as deep as 50 feet.  Down-lining live bait is your best bet right now.

Look for these big schools to start to move south as the water warms into the mid-80s.

Topwater:  Slow!!!!  There is limited topwater action right at sun up, but you have to be in the right place at the right time.  It really isn’t worth targeting yet.

Trolling is fair at best, but should heat up in the upcoming weeks.

Line-side fishing is Great.

The summer bite is in full swing.  All the major creeks are producing good numbers of fish right now.  And the down-line bite is nothing short of incredible.

These fish are scattered in the water column from anywhere from 13-40 feet deep and are easy to find on your Lowrance.

Shad, shiners and bream are all working.  Make sure you catch your bream on hook and line.  Be sure to carry plenty of bait and change it often.  Frisky bait is the key to putting more fish in the boat.

Trolling is working very well right now.  And for me there is nothing better than the Mack Farr U-rig.  I have had some really good days here lately pulling these rigs.  Also single buck-tails fished 150 feet behind the boat at about 2.4 miles an hour will get you bit.

Top Water is good early in the morning and late in the afternoon.  And a white rooster tail is hard to beat.  It is working well on Hybrids, Stripers and schooling spots.

Line-sides: Good!!!

The lake is back down to its normal level and there is very little debris.

The fish are starting to set up on a summer pattern.  Big schools of Hybrids can be found anywhere from the S-turns to as far south as Tanyard Creek.

The down-rod bite is the most productive bite going on the lake right now.  Fishing live shad at depths from 20-30 feet is producing for our boats from one end of the lake to the other.

Our bait of choice has been big Thread Fins.  These fish can be found on your Lowrance on or around most points, humps and flats.  Good electronics can be a big help during the summer months.

Summer time is awesome for numbers on Lake Allatoona.  Give us a call and let’s take the kids fishing.

Lines-side fishing is Good!!

The lake is still out of its banks, but is going down quickly.

The spawn run up the rivers is almost over. The fish are moving back down to the main lake and are feeding up after a very strong spring spawn run. The flats at the delta on the north end of the lake are heating up, along with the S-turns. There is also a decent bit going on mid-lake 1/2-mile north and south of Galts Ferry, and another one of the south end of the lake from Iron Hill to Clarks Creek.

Our best bite has been on Thread Fin Shad fished on down-lines and free-lines. The mouths of the main lake creeks have been producing best for us. Main lake points and humps are also holding some decent schools of Hybrids. These schools of fish are big. When they pass under your boat your Lowrance will light up like a Christmas tree. This bite will only get stronger as we go into summer.

The overall bite is really good, but now is the time to load your boat with Hybrids.

Trolling has been very good for me this week. I have been pulling Mack Farr U-Rigs 50-70 behind the boat and have had as many as five on one right at a time. The trolling bite is really starting to heat up and will only get better as we enter summer.

We still have plenty of openings aboard our boats. Give us a call at 770 827-6282 and let’s go fishing!

Lines-side fishing is Good!!

The lake is still out of its banks, but is going down.  If we don’t have any more rain this week, I think the loading docks will be usable by the end of next week.

The debris is almost gone.  The strong winds we had earlier this week blew most of it to the banks.  There is still some on the main lake from the dam to Little River.  So, be careful if you’re heading to the lake this weekend.

The bite up the river has returned and there are some very good numbers of Hybrids being caught up the Etowah.  These fish are feeding best on live shad fished on the bottom.

The main lake bite is also very good.  My clients have caught very good numbers aboard our boats this week fishing main lake creek mouths as far north as Little River and as far south as Clark’s Creek.

Our best bite has been on Thread Fin Shad fished on down-lines and free-lines.  Main lake points and humps are also holding some decent schools of Hybrids.

Lines-side fishing is Good!!

The lake is about eight feet above full pool and there is debris floating everywhere.  So if you’re heading out this weekend be careful.

To my surprise the water has very good color from Kellogg’s all the way to the spillway at Lake Acworth.  The bite this week is also surprising.  The overall bite is really good.  Dodging all the debris can be challenging but rewarding if you’re willing to put in the time.  The rivers are blown out and probably will be until sometime next week.

The best bite going right now is probably the bank bite at the spillway.  Bank anglers are having a field day right now.  I talked to the DNR on 5/7 and they said they have been seeing some really good catches coming from the banks at the spillway.  I rode over there on 5/8 and watched about a dozen Hybrids being caught on both live bait and artificial.

There is also a decent bite in the mouth of all the major creeks right now.  Main lake points and humps are also holding some decent schools of Hybrids.  The bite is a mixture of down lines, planer boards and free lines, with most of the fish coming off the down lines after 8 AM.

Trolling has been decent, but should get really good once the water temperature hits 70 degrees.

Overall the lake is flowing out of its banks and there is floating debris everywhere.  But spring is an awesome time to be on the water and the lake will drop back down to normal levels soon.

Grab the kids, give us a call and let’s go fishing.

Water Temp:  68
Visibility:  2-4 feet

Lines-sides fishing is Decent!!

The run we had this past weekend blew the rivers out.  They are running fast.

There is plenty of debris floating down both the Etowah and Little Rivers right now.  The main lake is still clear, but there is also a lot of debris floating on the main lake as well as the rivers.  If you’re heading out in the next few days be very careful.  The fishing this past week has been decent.  Finding water that is debris free, and holding bait and fish is the key to catching fish right now.

The fish on the main lake are up in the water column and are very hard to mark on 2 D sonar.  If you have a Lowrance with side-scan you can locate these fish by running your side scan setting on 60 feet on both sides.  That’s been working great for me on my Lowrance 12 in Touch.  If you don’t have side-scan, the best way to find these fish is to put out a spread of planer boards and free-lines.  Pull the banks and open water until you get bit.

Planer boards and freeing live shad on the main lake has been our best bite and are accounting for at least 95% of our catch on both Lake Allatoona and Carters Lake.

Small to middle-size gizzard shad has been the ticket.  If throwing the net isn’t your cup of tea, Striper Soup Bait and Tackle in ACTH has plenty on hand.

The river bite is a different story.  Cut bait seems to be fishing best right now.  But cut shad and chicken liver fished in any bend of the river or near anything blown down will catch you fish.

There have also been a lot of big cats caught up the river the last few weeks.  The lake record for Blue cats was broken recently with a nice 36 pounder.  Congrats to the angler for a great catch.

Trolling has been decent but should get really good once the water temperature hits 70 degrees.

Overall the bite on Allatoona is very good for almost the entire lake.  Spring is an awesome time to be on the water.  Grab the kids give us a call 770 827-6282 and let’s go fishing.

Line-side fishing is Good!

The fish are biting from one end of the lake to the other.  The Hybrids have started their spawn runs up both the Etowah River and Little River.  Most of the fish that are being caught are already spawned out.  The river bite should stay decent into the middle of May. The main lake is also fishing well.

The fish that are returning out of the rivers are starting to school up from the Little River Bridge up to the delta, and from the S-Turns to Kelloggs Creek.  There is also a decent south-end bite going on right now from Iron Hill to the bay out in front of 3rd Army.

The fish on the main lake are up in the water column and are very hard to mark on 2 D sonar.  If you have a Lowrance with side-scan, you can locate these fish by running your side-scan setting on 60 feet on both sides.  That has been working Great for me on my Lowrance 12 in Touch.  If you don’t have side-scan, the best way to find these fish is to put out a spread of planer boards and free-lines and pull the banks and open water until you get bit.

Line-side fishing is:  Good right now.

The water temperature is heating up fast and the bite is really starting to get good.  The river bite finally started.  The white bass have moved up and are being caught on white rooster tails and crappie jigs.  I expect we are just days away before the Hybrids and Stripers move up as well.

Right now I am spending most of my time in the creeks. There are decent schools of fish in all the major creeks right now.  Kellogg’s, Stamp, Clark, Tanyard and Iron Hill have all produced for my boats in the last 10 days.

There is also another bite going on from Little River all the way up to Fields Landing.  If you find the baitfish, you’ll find stripers and hybrids nearby.  These fish are feeding up for the upcoming spawn run.

Flat-lines in the morning and afternoon and down-lines midday is the way to go.

The topwater bite this week has been slow compared to last week’s. If you are lucky enough to come across breaking fish, Rooster tails, Flukes, Popping Corks, Jerk baits and free-lining shad will all catch you fish right now.

Trolling is working really well right now. The Mack Farr 3-arm umbrella rig has been producing best for me right now.  Color doesn’t seem to matter, but speed is a factor. The best speed for me this week has been between 3.3 – 3.5 MPH.

Remember, the month April is one of the best months for line-side fishing. We still have a few days open this month and we’re offering family trips starting at $250.00.

Line-side fishing: Good right now.

The river bite is on hold for now, but it will pick back up as the water starts to clear.

Right now your best chance to load the boat is mid-lake.  There are big schools of fish showing up from Kellogg’s Creek to the S-Turns.  There is also a good bite in the Allatoona Creek arm from Iron Hill to Clark Creek, and another one from Little River all the way up to Fields Landing.

All of your major creeks have fish in them right now.  If you find the baitfish, you’ll find stripers and hybrids nearby.

Flat-lines in the morning and afternoon and down-lines mid-day is the way to go.

The topwater bite this week has been some of the best I have seen since last spring.  These schools are big and are willing to eat.  We caught both Hybrids and White bass on topwater this week using rooster tails, Flukes, Popping Corks, Jerk baits and free-lining shad.

Trolling is working really well right now.  The Mack Farr 3-arm umbrella rig has been producing best for me right now.  Color doesn’t seem to matter, but speed is a factor.  The best speed for me this week has been between 3.3–3.5 miles per hour.
