Red Top Mtn’s Harvest at the Homestead
Summers are fabulous on Lake Allatoona — especially at Red Top Mountain State Park. But many folks prefer autumn’s warm afternoons and chilly nights to hot summer days and muggy evenings.
Autumn is also packed with festivals all around Georgia. For example, on Saturday & Sunday, September 21 & 22, from 10 AM until 4 PM, Red Top Mountain holds its Harvest at the Homestead celebration.
They’ve got all kinds of things in store for you and your family — young and old. There’s a realistic Civil War camp that everyone will find interesting and informational. The only cost is five dollars for parking, plus food, if you want to eat there.
The Harvest at the Homestead is famous for its:
- toys and games
- open-hearth cooking
- black-powder weapon demonstrations
- blacksmithing
- woodworking
- unusual contests and more.
Enjoy looking at how people used to live. That always helps us appreciate our air-conditioned homes with hot water, indoor plumbing, a refrigerator or two, phones, TVs, computer, game stations, stoves, dishwashers, washing machines ….
